Sorting containers on the Akita Rinkai

An Akita Rinkai DD56 loco sorts out container cars. If you think containers just travel in a straight line from A to B, think again...at least in Japan. The interesting part comes at the end - the cars are set out next to an elevated walkway and the crew (driver included!) sets to sweep out the containers! Now this is an operational aspect I still have to see incorporated into someone's layout...

 

I like the loco's paint scheme, the wave arrangement on the side is interesting...

Thanks very interesting. Great scene to do! I have the perfect item for it, I picked up 6 engine inspection platform kits on clearance way back that look just like this. Knew they had a purpose!

The DD56 is an ex-JNR DD13 type.

According to Japanese wiki, yes, 56.12 tons.
