There's a separate cabinet for those ~ 😛 Will be posting more when I get around designing how I should 'display' them, though it should somewhere be close to this 😛 Edited May 23, 2020 by JR 500系 Link to comment

JR 500系
Another run on Takahashi town since we got some time and it has been a while since i ran some trains so... It's Kintetsu time! The Blue Symphony is really beautiful! Gotta love that head mark! At random Kintetsu station? And my first attempt at another edit video: Parting short of the Fire Station ~ 🙂 10 Link to comment

Looks pretty dangerous to me ~ 😛 I'm a little slow on this. Generally, you'll find a buffer lane of (usually) parked cars. But there are places where trams run along the curb like much of Lisbon. And yes, big trams. In Japan trams tend to be alone in the middle of street. (There probably is an exception somewhere--watch it bite me!!) Edited May 17, 2021 by bill937ca 2 Link to comment

JR 500系
It's official. I'm moving! Hence, i would not be making any more progress on Takahashi town.... It will also face the axe very soon.... But, what is brighter, i get to build a NEW layout! Exciting! This time, i get more space as well!!!! 🙂 I will miss running trains on Takahashi though, there are several months before the axe and the move, so i guess i'll try to run more trains now ~ 7 Link to comment
cteno4
Wow! Great you will have more room for trains in the new place. Sad the old layout will go away, but most of it wasn’t glued down, correct, so you can probably salvage most everything from it. uh oh larger place means more storage which means more trains and busses! At least the busses don’t take up as much space. Now you can do your big bus terminal and holding hard! cheers, jeff Link to comment
Madsing
Will you keep the idea of building the layout inside/under the dining table, or do you have other plan? Link to comment

One thing i'm glad, i kept all of the usual book cases when i was 'compacting' to reduce the boxes to fit into my current 'one storage cabinet'. With the new room, i have like 5 of those!!! 😆 U know what that means!! The bus terminal... well, it will depend on how i will rebuild the room. hopefully i will have a larger table, so i can then use the current display cabinet to display the bus terminal and buses ~ I was also pondering on the idea of a bus display shelf, much like the train one i have ~ THAT would be fun wahahaha 12 hours ago, Madsing said: Will you keep the idea of building the layout inside/under the dining table, or do you have other plan? I am thinking to combine the current dinning table with a spiral up to join into another table for a larger space. As for covering from dust, i will need to refrain from the glasses... They are getting heavy as i age and i dont forsee myself to be able to lift 20kg per glass much more in the near future... 😞 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Sammy, id say design your tables to fit what you want for the layout. If you are not using the glass top (yes those are a huge pain to move around and like you said will just get worse with time) then the old table base may not suit your new layout well. Helixes are a pain and take up a chunk of room as well. Maybe think sectional on the layout where it comes apart into modules every 4-6’ so you could move it if you move or break apart if you need access to back areas or under for wiring. looking forward to seeing the new room grow! cheers jeff Link to comment
JR 500系
It is with great sadness, Takahashi town has been DISMANTLED and DEMOLISHED on boxing day, 26th Dec 2022.... Here's one FINAL arial view BEFORE it goes.... an almost 2 over years of constant construction to reach this stage... It's all gone, within 5 hours... The only take away is the table... onto a new and hopefully larger layout! The display shelf is going as well... one last look at all its glory.... Before it goes back to its original state I really like this display rack, so i'm cracking my head to dismantle the silicon and detach it from the wall. It HAS to follow me, i love it so much.... 3 5 Link to comment

I'll need to see the space that i'll be given though, subject to the local planning authorities approval 4 Link to comment
MeTheSwede
A new and possibly larger layout sounds exiting. I expect to see more room for buses on your new layout. Or is getting a Shinkansen line priroritised? Reading through your layout thread was a quite inspiring thing to do after finding this forum. I wonder, after the table layout has come to an end, do you still think the track plan chosen for it was the ideal one for you under the specific space constraints, or is there anything you'd do differently today?
