Martijn Meerts
I believe this has been post before, however, looking at the comments, it seems that Mr. Wolfgang Frey, who built this incredible layout, has passed away recently at only 51 years of age. The layout is an exact replica of the main station of Stuttgart, including a life-size operator room. The whole thing is pretty much paid for, and built by a single person over the span of about 30 years. The future of the layout is uncertain, and there's a fair chance it'll be torn down .. http://www.freymodell.de/1.html 2 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
It'd be nice if a municipal history or science museum bought the layout, it appears to be museum quality. Link to comment
Eisenbahn
This model layout is a masterpiece and should be preserved for its own sake. There is yet another reason to preserve it! The original Stuttgart main station is being changed forever with the 4Billion Euro Stuttgart 21 Project. It is being changed from a 17 track surface Terminus Station to an underground 8 track through station. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttgart_21 Needless to say that local opinion is divided on the subject! It would be good if the model layout could be permanently displayed inside the famous Stutttgart Station Building when the construction work for Project 21 is completed. cheers....Eisenbahn Link to comment
