Japanese trains filmed (or rather edited) in a different way

The tension is building up, but the KiHa 40 doesn't have the courage to continue the battle and flees from the battle scene, which ruins the built up tension.

Trains with music and other random stuff that makes it nice and sometimes funny to watch, has a lot of atmosphere in my opinion.

That second video is taken on the JR East Kururi Line. Better catch riding those old DMU's soon, because they're supposed to be replaced by modern KiHa E130's starting in December 2012 (with conveniences like real air conditioning/heating).

Thank you Densha for the great video finds!

I like the 1st video, although the result was pretty obivious... Probably there would be more of a fight if let's say E5 went head on head with N700, or Kiha 40 with E209 or something like that... A Shinkansen with a DMU? HHhmmm..

Great concept on the idea though! Interesting!  :grin

I think the video was some sort of tribute to the old DMU's. Those old Japanese DMU's always make for a great atmosphere, luckily there are still some private operators using old DMU's but is this perhaps the last line of JR using these series? I also like the use of two different color schemes in one train.

@JR500 のぞみ

It reminded me of that Top Gear episode where they are doing a Shinkansen vs car, I've yet to see that whole episode though.

Actually I don't agree. I find the video very inconclusive the way it is shot. Of course it makes you think of race videos but then it doesn't achieve anything. It could also be a design "contest", old versus sleek and new. Actually, at the end, with this long shot, I have the definite impression the video maker as a soft spot for the DMU rather than one for the latest shinkansen. But it is possible it is only like that because of limited shooting points and angles.
