cteno4
Well that's awesome! But what's up with the changing of perspectives and disappearance of the crowd at some parts? they just cut to a camera further back that took in the whole projection area. i think its up on a platform or something and no longer shooting right over the heads of the viewers there. you can see a few lights down low that maybe cellphones/cameras recording away. jeff Link to comment
cteno4
bit more jrforum with nhk program. frustrating there are not dates on the schedule! nhk app works ok, its low res video but passable. too bad they dont have them for streaming. From http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/english/tv/japanology/index.html'>http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/english/tv/japanology/index.html "Tokyo Station's 100th anniversary is approaching. With 28 tracks, and 3,000 trains arriving and departing each day, it is Japan's largest rail terminal. Over the years, Tokyo Station has been the site of countless hellos and goodbyes, and the station building is an Important Cultural Property in Japan. The third floor and two striking domes burned down in 1945 during the Second World War, and for 60 years Tokyo Station remained a two-story building. Five years ago, work began to restore the station to its original appearance. The restoration project not only meticulously re-created the craftsmanship of a bygone century, it also included a state-of-the-art seismic-safety retrofitting. On this edition of BEGIN Japanology, our theme is Tokyo Station. This is part of our special Tokyo trilogy. We trace the station's history and explore its latest features." The first screening on NHK World is at 0:30 - 1:00 (UTC), should be viewable (a few programs are "not available due to copyright restrictions" overseas) at http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/ , iPhone/iPad/Android App, Satellite, BS1 in Japan etc N.B. Nick_Burman
SNCF did something similar at the Gare de Lyon to mark the 30 years of the TGV: One wonders if the two presentations were connected in any form -the style is very similar. Cheers NB 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Thanks nick, nice video. opening were very similar, but starting with a station as your canvas i would guess this just is the best opening spot to ease the audience into the idea of projecting on the building. hmm well very similar canvases and tangential messages so a lot will overlap given that. I thought they had very distinct feeling from each other. Tokyo station kept on the story of the station well and got pretty creative with its use of the building. Also love the fun they had with the music being played on the building, stuff growing on it, the route maps etc. use of the building itself with the effects was spot on and was right on with the story of the reopening of the station. they utilized the building in the sfx, not just as a screen to show sfx. a lot of the tgv one reminded me of rock laser shows with groovy sfx but they didnt really use the building much in conjunction with those, more of just a screen. but then again it was not about the building, but the tgv, so tokyo had that going for it. jeff Link to comment
cteno4
well it looks like the light shows are TOO popular and are being shut down some due to overcrowding to view! unfortunate, but must mean they did a good job and folks really want to see it. http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/huge-crowds-force-suspension-of-tokyo-station-light-up-event jeff Link to comment
