J-TREC (former Tokyu Railcar) to introduce new railcar design

Intended for export markets, it will be marketed under the name "Sustina".  Press release from this Wednesday:

Apparently more info will be revealed at the upcoming Innotrans 2012 in Berlin from Sept. 18.

 

Judging from the last slide in the Japanese version of the above, the Sustina design is closely based on the JRE 23x series and its variants:

What the heck. A presentation at Innotrans? The future looks mighty interesting with Japanese companies slowly trickling into the heavily saturated European market.
