Guest ___
Crime Sep. 11, 2012 - 05:25AM JST ( 27 ) TOKYO — The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, with the cooperation of railway companies, has launched a “Stop Train Violence” campaign to stamp out assaults at stations and on trains and promote better passenger manners. Mika Sugimoto, London Olympic silver medalist in the women’s over 78kg judo, helped kick off the campaign on Sunday, TV Asahi reported. “I have never experienced any sexual harassment or violence but I hope these kind of cases will be eradicated,” she said. As of July, there have been 548 violent assaults against station employees and passengers at stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area, officials said. In the most recent case on Sept 6 at Shibuya Station in Tokyo, a man was stabbed by another man. Besides Sugimoto, Ultra-Man and professional wrestler Masahiro Chono joined the campaign which was held at Shibuya and Shinjuku stations. Chono appealed to commuters to show more consideration for fellow passengers. Link to comment
Davo Dentetsu
Hah, if Chono-san is involved, at least that means Hosei Yamazaki won't be playing up anytime soon. :D Link to comment
Densha
All people who are in the campaign are huge and (extraordinary) strong people, I wonder how they want to represent most passengers with it. I wonder what's actually the main cause behind those accidents, could be stress or drunk is just a random guess, of course that doesn't count for stabbing people. Link to comment
cteno4
well some drunks get mean. one guy in grad school turned into a nasty, surly guy from a very quiet mild mannered guy after about one beer. was shocking transformation. he was not all that aware of his behavioral changes until a bunch of us talked to him. at first he did not want to believe it but after enough folks told him the same thing he finally started to believe. that and he was slowly being shunned by most everyone in the department due to his behavior after a beer. we were almost to the point of videotaping it... It does seem an odd choice, guess its big types protecting the unprotected. jeff Link to comment
