bikkuri bahn
Observed on a Chikuho Dentetsu tram, in Fukuoka Prefecture. It's a poster from the Japan Private Railway Workers Union (PRU), promoting riding public transportation, the message being "let's take care of (grow) public transport, carrying smiles". And who's that fellow on the right hand side of the poster picture carrying a map and a shoulder bag? Possibly a JNS forum member on a railfan jaunt? 1 Link to comment
Sacto1985
It's not hard to encourage more rail travel given that owning an automobile in Japan is an EXPENSIVE experience, what with gasoline (petrol) selling for double the average USA price on a per liter basis, low speed limits (only 100 km/h or 62 mph for the fastest roads), just silly pricing for toll roads, and have to secure a parking spot in some cities just to own a car. No wonder why between Yokohama and Tokyo, the JR East and Keikyu lines are so heavily used on weekdays during commute hours. Link to comment
