bill937ca
I have noticed that at times You Tube videos do not open up in a preview window and at times they do. Example: But if you find a link in You Tube without the feature=endscreen the video does open. To do that I have to go into the posters channel in You Tube and click on Videos and find the video there. Link to comment
cteno4
interesting, i think this may be in how the forum software embeds a youtube link just a test here of http://www.youxxxtube.com/watch?v=V8VM-uoqxZg&feature=player_embedded jeff Link to comment
bill937ca
You Tube has been making a lot of upgrades in recent months. The functioning of the feature player that appears at the end of video has changed as has the internal workings of playlists. Link to comment
cteno4
ok it looks like the forum software looks for youtube.com and then proceeds to try and parse out the video id so it can use that to do its own embedding in the final code. if it cant parse it properly then it just gives up and put the link back in. so http://www.youxxxtube.com/watch?v=V8VM-uoqxZg&feature=player_embedded (xxx in youtube to louse up detection) goes to http://www.youxxxtube.com/v/V8VM-uoqxZg i wonder if its the list= instead of v= i was wrong in the other thread the forum is using the flash player for youtube. jeff Link to comment
Mr Frosty
Whats the deal for getting videos to show? On the old software, the just appeard, but that doesnt seem to work now. Could we have a "video" button, like the image button for embedding films? :) Link to comment
miyakoji
I just paste the url of the YT page and the videos work. I can't think of a time when they didn't. In fact both of Bill's videos above work fine, for me there's no difference between how they're embedded in the post. Link to comment
Mr Frosty
I did that on the ZUrich thread, but just got a link. Link to comment
cteno4
test with the share url test with just the url from the embed code from youtube http://www.youtube.com/embed/wL8J0Vj46jg Link to comment
cteno4
interesting the share video with the http://xxxyoutu.be/wL8J0Vj46jg (xxx to stop embedding) works fine. at one point the old forum did not recognize non youtube.com urls to auto embed. i think its still the urls with the embed or embedded codes in them that dont work. so if you just go into the share this video tab on the youtube page that url should work fine to auto embed. jeff Link to comment
miyakoji
test with just the url from the embed code from youtube http://www.youtube.com/embed/wL8J0Vj46jg See I would normally use that without the 'embed' in it. Link to comment
cteno4
this probably comes from someone hittingthe embedded video on another site then when it opens in video it has the embedded link that when pasted into this forum doesnt seem to work with the auto youtube embed here. so best to grab the "share" link to put into the forum. jeff Link to comment
Mr Frosty
Thanks, I will experiment with the various URLs next time I want to show a video clip. :) Link to comment
bill937ca
The best urls to post from are the short watch urls. The sidebar urls with /watch?feature=endscreen&v=_wx1Fvjcsio&NR=1 usually don't post as well. This means you have to go into the posters channel and click browse videos to get a clean url.
