marknewton
The wife, the kids, and I made the annual pilgrimage north for Steamfest on the weekend of 28/29 April. As usual there was so much to see and do - trains, planes, cars, trucks, etc - it was hard to fit everything in, and I took about 1,737 photos in the course of two days. But here is one worth sharing. On the Saturday I worked a trip with the Railmotor Society, Maitland - Paterson and return. On the way back we were put away in the loop at Mindaribba to cross a down local service worked by a Hunter-class DMU. After it departed we expected to get the road, but we were held for a while longer. We weren't sure why at first, then the penny dropped. We were waiting for the down steam-hauled service to Dungog, hauled by 3642. She ran through us at a great rate of knots, skillfully driven by my mate Bob Gibson, as seen here. For a grab shot through the cab window, I'm rather pleased with this. Cheers, Mark. 6 Link to comment
