miyakoji
I think there are some Aizu Railway fans on JNS Forum so I thought I'd put this out here. JR East's East i-D, their diesel track inspection train based at Akita Depot, ran on the Aizu Line on May 9th. It ran from Aizu-Wakamatsu to Aizukōgen-Ozeguchi as train 試9109D* and back to Aizu-Wakamatsu as 試9114D. When it reversed at Aizukōgen-Ozeguchi, it was there with Yagan Railway's trainset 61102. This is some of my favorite Tobu rolling stock; Yagan has 3 2-car sets and Aizu has 1 2-car set. *I'm assuming 試 is read as "shi" which basically means test. Assuming again, here it's short for 試験 shiken, examination/test/inspection, rather than 試運転 shiunten, test run, which we often see on the destination boards of new rolling stock as well as older equipment being tested off its usual lines, or in altered consists, etc. If any video appears on YT I'll put it out here. http://railf.jp/news/2012/05/11/113000.html Link to comment
westfalen
We're fans of all Japanese railways here. This will give us a precedent for running the E193 on private railways. I was on the platform in the photo in 1994, there was a huge wasp nest under the platform roof. Link to comment
KenS
Thanks for the info. I'm a fan of the East-i trains, so it's always interesting to see news about them. Link to comment
