Eisenbahn
That is quite a good idea. Be nice if it went global. An International Rail Day would get widespead support from Green groups because rail is friendly to the environment and support from Business groups favouring global trade and technology investment. ( And of course from people like us who just like trains.) There is huge growth (a boom) underway in investment in High Speed (passenger) Rail all around the world. Trade between China & the US has produced a boom in rail freight moving containers from US West coast sea ports to the East. Integration of Europe has meant investment to move rail freight across borders.( e.g. DB Schenker now runs trains between England & Poland.) Perhaps the time is right for an International rail Day. Would a U.N. Committee be the place to start? Or existing rail industry groups? Anyone got any contacts? Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Would a U.N. Committee be the place to start? You don't want the U.N. involved with rail in the U.S. That would just set off the tin foil hat anti-rail brigade and would be a PR disaster. Link to comment
