What kind of Kato Coupler will fit this kind of Rapido?

I'm trying to fit a Kato coupler into my locomotive that currently has Rapido.  I bought a bag of Kato 11-702s thinking they would work but they do not.  Does anyone know what kind of couplers I need?  Do I need a new coupler harness for the 11-702s or is there a complete replacement system?

Answer...none. You loco is fitted with a NEM coupler adaptor and Kato makes no coupler for it. Having said that, if you really want to get rid of the Rapido coupler, try the Dapol "Easy-Shunt": http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/48728-dapol-easi-shunt-magnetic-couplings-in-n/ for more info. I fear you'll have to order it from the UK though.

Thank you for the link.  It does look like it will work.  My only conern if it does is will the Dapol "Easy-Shunt" link up with Kato Knuckle Couplers.  I wonder if it would be easier to fit a Rapido coupler on one end of a Kato truck to make a go between?  I guess I was asking for this when I tried to have a Euorpean locomotive pull Kato Amfleet II cars.

If MT couplers couple to Katos, so should the Dapol ones.

Depends on what Kato couplers you want. I have models on my desk right now with no less than three variations on the coupler design. They all couple together, but I'm not entirely certain that they will all work with M-T couplers, the designs are so drastically different. One is a one-piece designs, one is a rudimentary two-piece design, and one is a much fancier two-piece design, none of which have the magnetic whiskers on them for automatic decoupling.

Received the box from Rails of Shefield on Saturday. And they sent me the wrong product. Wors part is they want me to send it back before they ship the correct part. The nerve, guess the customer is always wrong, Bob!  Anywho... I went and ordered these instead, of course, from them as they seem at least know how to get it to my house.

I know they will fit my NEM spade like Rapido coupler sockets but now I just hope they fit well enough with the Kato knuckle couplers on the cars I have.

I've got some of the dummy Dapol couplers and they couple ok with most other types of knuckle couplers. I get most of my British stuff from Hattons, I've never had any problems with them.

I did not.  But you can email then and ask.  They were very attentive to my questions.  Also, they emailed me about the mistake they sent and apologized and they coordinated to ensure that they would send out the correct order.
