gmat
Taken this Sunday. I arrived at 04:45 at Shinjuku and went to Omiya after 9:00 and came back in the evening to Shinjuku to shoot some returning trains. EF510 going North at around 5:05. Moonlight Echigo 485 returning to Shinjuku at 5:09. Departs soon after (5:19) returning north. EF64 also heading north, 5:38. Another EF-64-1033 at 5:43. This one caught me by surprise as I was on the opposite side of the platform shooting the Super Azusa parked at a siding and a non rail capable digger. The digger didn't have the rail wheels. I've shot this 185 going north another day at about the same time, I think. Today, it replaced the first 251 Series Super View Odoriko. 9062M 6:41 AM. Returning from Ikebukuro or perhaps Omiya as 9073M at 8:43. The Qzashiki 485 came by heading for Kofu. This is the platform sign. The Homeliner View Yamanashi is running again. 8:58. It came from Chiba. Before, it started from Shinjuku. Best wishes, Grant 1 Link to comment
gmat
I moved to Omiya and shot these trains. Sometimes Omiya is dead on a Sunday but this morning, April 2nd, the beginning of the new fiscal year, it was hopping with freight trains. This EF81 89 was pulling the blue sleeper cars. I think that it may have been on a test or training run as I have seen it pass north on occasion and one time it returned later in the afternoon. 10:52 AM. EF65 1072 heading south at 11:03. I missed a few more going the other way. EF210 169 heading south at 11:18. EH500 42 at 11:31. EF210 143 going the same direction at 12:01. EF64 1046 at 12:28. I missed shooting it, but a bunch of fans were hanging around waiting and when an Out Of Service (OOS) 211 series like this one came south, they must have been waiting for it as they all left right after. This may be the same one as it came from the north, stopped at Omiya and headed north again. When I returned to Shinjuku after 1:00, I saw a 211 Series, possibly the same one coming north near Komagome. It may have gone to Shinjuku and returned to Omiya. Very unusual, which may explain the fan interest. Don't know why it was running the Shonan-Shinjuku Line. 8521M OOS. 11:13. The board says Resort Kusatsu, but it turned out to be the Resort Yamadori 485. Headed for Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station. I wonder if it came from Shinjuku or just replaced one of the 185s from Ueno. Reads YD01 and Ver. 1.00. YD for Yamadori 01 but not sure about ver. 1.00. E64 1003, 12:36. EF510 505. 1:02. Then the freight traffic seemed to taper off and the rail fans disappeared. Best wishes, Grant Link to comment
gmat
I came back to Shinjuku to shoot some of the trains that left this morning. The Homeliner View Yamanashi headed for Chiba. The train code seems to change at Shinjuku. Arrived as 9592M. Left as 9383M. Best wishes, Grant Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
I used to wonder what people liked about the old cream/red JNR paint scheme, but the more I see it, the more I like it :) My series 151 Kodama is also quickly becoming 1 of my favorite trains, even though the kato cab car decoder pocket in that one sucks =) Link to comment
The_Ghan
I used to see the Azusa daily at Kofu and I've never warmed to the cream and red. I left Japan before the colour scheme was revised. I think my 183 is the only model I have in those colours. On the other hand, I find the 215 series colour scheme appealing. Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment
