seabilliau
Noticed there weren't any posts with photos of the M8s on here though there were some old posts. The M8s are built by Kawasaki and sure are good looking. Saw a line of them last night ridding the Shoreline East. 3 Link to comment

seabilliau
Kato makes the JR Kyushu 813 which resembles the M8 a little, but the M8s look really cool with that roof light Kyushu 813 Link to comment
to2leo
It is distinctive with the colours chosen and the silver trimmings... Link to comment
disturbman
But why so few and so small doors, isn't that a commuter train? Link to comment
seabilliau
But why so few and so small doors, isn't that a commuter train? If you are talking about the M8s they usually run about 4 sets, which is 8 cars. the doors appear small in the pictures but they at about the size of 1 & 1/2 doors actually. Not sure why. The commuting in the Northeast Corridor is primarily just for commuting to work vice personal travel. Link to comment
Nick_Burman
But why so few and so small doors, isn't that a commuter train? Yes, however distances between stations on the NE Corridor tend to be longer than usual when compared to other commuter runs around the world. This means that any extra time added to schedules due to slower loading because of the doors can be made up by some fast running between stops. Also on the NE Corridor not all commuter trains stop at all stations - for instance, a GCT - New Haven Metro-North train might run non-stop between GCT and somewhere in western Connecticut (with maybe one or two stops in the Bronx and at New Rochelle Jct.) like Bridgeport or Stamford, then run all-stops to the end of MNCR service at New Haven. seabilliau
Just spoke with the conductor on the Shoreline East train I commute on and he confirmed we're going to get the M8s on the New Haven to New London route. Can't wait. Link to comment
