what does this part belong too!

So i was running the 9600 gotoji with some freight with the son.

 

All of a sudden the rod at the front dissapeared it was there 100% sure of it but i noticed after a while it went bye bye.

 

So after my son got bored and stopped playing. i went over the track and in tunnel and could not find it :(

 

What i did find though is this pic 2 now i am sure it's not the missing front rod but what does it come off?

 

I checked all my steamers and freight cars and can't see any hole for missing detail or anything like that?

 

The pic is a bit blurry i will try get a better one tonight as this is taken on the mobile and it's not great at close ups.

My initial thought it was the cross head and piston but on closer inspection it appears to be the vertical post from the front footplate plus part of the footplate itself.

Is this part missing? If so it can be glued back carefully.

hmm thanks for the ideas but it's not that...

 

I really have noidea where this came from ... I checked every loco i have including my kihas freight and emu's lol

 

I'm sure i'm missing something simple thats hard to notice.

 

I have been really busy lately with issues going on so i won't be able to continue looking for quite a while.
