quinntopia
Hi All! Sorry if someone has already posted this, but I just saw this announcement on the German 1zu160.net site and I thought to myself that there are a lot of folks on the Japanese modelling side of the hobby that would also think this is pretty cool! Over the years, I've seen other modellers work out solutions to attempt to add a real video 'billboard' or screen to their downtown/city landscape (and similar projects like Drive in movie theaters etc...). The challenge that most of these solutions always seem to have is they are using an iPod or other video / music player that was never intended for the sort of operation we want for our our layouts. From what I've read so far, the Austrian company AustroModell is the first to come up with the exact solution we've been looking for in this area! Here is the link with Google translate to their product: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.austromodell.at%2Findex.php%3Fsite%3Daccessories AustroModell's site: http://www.austromodell.at/index.php?site=accessories I was actually a little surprised to see the price isn't as high as I though something like this would be! Its not cheap, but its not crazy either (€ 59.00 ). I'm looking forward to seeing a video of this at some point! Link to comment
KenS
Cool. But at 8.5cm diagonal, you're looking at a 9m (29.5') wide signboard in N-scale. That's good for a billboard, but a bit large for a store sign. Of course a realistic "lcd tv" sign would be about 13mm along the long side, and I'm not sure you could see much on that, so I suppose some compromises are necessary. But still, these seem a bit large for N scale. Link to comment
