miyakoji
A few outlets are covering the retirement of the old equipment, but only Ompuchaneru seems to have photos of the new stuff... Tokyu is retiring their DEYA7200 and DEYA7290 track inspection cars for a new 2-car set, shown in this thread: http://rail-uploader.khz-net.com/index.php?id=1019255 . Here Tetsudou Fan's site has an image of the outgoing cars: http://railf.jp/news/2012/02/27/132900.html . I don't know too much about Tokyu although I do recall grinding through some sharp curves just out of their Shibuya Station. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Yep, the approach to Shibuya Station on the Toyoko Line is slow being a terminal stub and the restricted throat area, plus you have the curve for the crossing over the Yamanote Line about 500m down. The Toyoko is kind of my "home" line, having been born at a hospital just several meters away from the tracks, and memories of taking it for shopping trips to the Toyoko Dept. Store and (later) dates at Jiyugaoka. Lost interest pretty much after the 8000's were retired, and signaling now ATC rather than ATS in old days (you can still see the lampless signal poles at the end of the Shibuya terminal).
