creative liveries: the JNR 185 that never was

You may recall JR East's Shonan treatment of a 185 set.  Well they're at it again with set OM08 based at Omiya Depot.  I didn't hate the Shonan colored 185, but I think this is much better.  I'd also be interested to see a more Yokosuka-themed livery on this, I've always thought the blue and creme on 113s/115s to be very tasteful.

I like that theme i also love the shonan theme http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10139155

Is it running yet? as this is new ?

I may be able to get a few pics in august as i may be near there.

I would buy both if they re-did the model in a non old mould re-reun.

This however i do not like http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10084431

I didn't know they modeled the Shonan livery.  I didn't know about the Furufuru livery at all until just a day or two ago when YT contributor tobu2181 posted this old video:

It's a generally good looking train in my opinion, the only livery I don't really care for is the original that was on the 200 subseries, the green stripes seem to accentuate the headlight mouldings for a kind of racoon effect or something

I should wait at Omiya Station next Saturday. Will post it if I shoot it.

Best wishes,

Grant, some more info that may help:

185 series in JNR Amagi Colors:

March 3: Ltd. Express Joshu Odoriko-go    Dep. Takasaki 9:37 Arr. Izukyu Shimoda 14:08 with stops including Omiya, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Musashi Kosugi, Yokohama, Ofuna, Odawara... (expect a railfan circus at many stations...)

March 3: Ltd. Express Amagi Dep. Izukyu Shimoda 16:17 Arr. Tokyo 19:19

March 4: Dep. Tokyo 8:00 Arr. Izukyu Shimoda 10:40, Dep. Izukyu Shimoda 16:17 Arr. Tokyo 19:19

*Grant, it may be too far out of your territory, but I would get down to Shonan (past Ofuna) or even Odawara or Atami to photograph this train, either lineside or at one of the smaller stations, where the crowds will be smaller, or even on the Takasaki Line, though I'm not familiar with the area.

Thanks, BikkuriBahn. I also got a Seishun18 ticket for the Spring Season, so I could do that. But I think I'll brave the crowds at Omiya as I want to shoot other holiday stuff that might be running on the first Spring season weekend. I can also do Atami on a later date when I try to ride the 0dakyu 5000 series from Odawara. But closer to Takasaki also sounds doable on Mar 3rd as I want to finally reach Omae Station. The line was rained out last time I tried so I was stuck one station down and we had to be bused from Manza-Kazawaguchi Station to Shiokawa Station. Bummer. If you come south to my area this Spring Season, I wouldn't mind meeting you.

Best wishes,

Grant

I'd like to see Amtrak follow this path and paint a pair of P42's in Santa Fe warbonnet colours. :grin

Definitely. They do have a couple of P42's running around in Phase I... frankly I think it makes the current Amtrak schemes look like wee.

That last scene is a classic paint scheme in a classic location.

I like the way there is only a tiny 'JR' logo by the cab door to preserve the JNR image.

Formation OM08 is headed back to Omiya for a repaint, apparently it will get the standard slightly-off-vertical green stripes.  I guess this means that it will survive the March schedule revision.  Also, in the picture, this train seems to have 7 cars; most or all of the others have had their green car removed.
