bill937ca
This is a map wiki. Its OpenStreetMap you can join and edit maps. These maps look like they could be very useful for planning trips and for modeling prototype locations. So far I have only looked in detail at Lisbon. But here`s a few links. I link maps by right clicking on the Permalink icon in the bottom right corner. The white cross on the blue background in the top right corner allows you to choose a base map, including a transport map. Rail lines and tram lines are shown. Its a work in progress. I found some minor errors and omissions in Lisbon. This is the first Lisbon map I've found that accurately shows all the twists and turns as tram 28E climbs up past Cathedral Se. The detail is right. On the largest version, individual buildings are shown in many locations. The only other maps with this level of detail are generally city planning maps which generally are not available for free, if available at all to the general public. http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=38.71159&lon=-9.13025&zoom=17&layers=M I've looked at Milan, Lisbon, a bit of Tokyo and a bit of Hiroshima and I am impressed with what is there. On some maps individual rail lines are indicated. Tokyo Station http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=35.67686&lon=139.76753&zoom=16&layers=M Hiroshima JR station http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=34.39629&lon=132.47741&zoom=17&layers=M Nagasaki JR station http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=32.752698&lon=129.873447&zoom=18&layers=M Nagasaki lacks detail, but a Wiki takes time to grow.
