The_Ghan
Well, after 2 years I've finally landed myself a Tomix 92059/60 E1 Max Original Colour set. A big thankyou goes to Webskipper for organising local freight in the US and forwarding on to me. Also, thanks to cteno4 for offering to help, just hours after 'skip had put up his hand. In return for his help, 'skip is now is posession of my extra Dr Yellow!!! I now have a few questions / comments to make about the E1 Max: 1. The 92059 and 92060 arrived just this afternoon. The first thing I did was check the contents, of course. There seems to be something strange about car 2 (I'm counting the whole 12 car consist here). Car 2 (92060) E155-100 appears identical to car 10 (92060) E145, except there is no pantograph or Green Car logo. I know there isn't meant to be a panto or logo on Car 2. The whole prototype only runs on two pantos (Car 6 and Car 10) and Car 2 is not a Green Car. So, why does my Car 2 (92060) E155-100 shell have space for a panto? Have I got a proper set of 92060? 2. I checked the bottom of the cars for numbers. The two sets provide 8 of the 12 cars in the prototype: 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, & 12. The Tomix numbers on the chasis of each (in order) are: 2852, 2844, 2846, 2844, 2844, 2844, 2852. Is that correct? The shells all match the images in the product brochure but I thought it strange that the chasis have the same number. 3. To make up the extra cars I've won two auctions on Yahoo.jp. The first includes cars 2843 (Car 3), 2844 (Car 4), 2845 (Car 5), and 2851 (which I believe is another car 11, which I don't actually need). The second is car 2840 (Car 7). That should give me a full prototypical set and a spare car 11, pending items #1 and #2 above. 4. While on Yahoo auctions I came across a full 12 car consist of 92059 and 92060. It was difficult to tell from the photos on-line whether it was a full consist, or whether there are two motor cars. However, I could easily make out 2844 (Car 4) and 2845 (Car 5). I couldn't tell which car(s) were motor cars from the photos. A bit of a lucky dip but I got it for less than $200. Anyone who can help with my questions (Massimo, perhaps), I thank you in advance. The e155-100 is a M1 therefore it is equipped for a panto. Car 6 and 10 are also M1 so this is normal it is the same for other shinkansens 100 series some sets are the same. 2.
