bikkuri bahn
The 5200 series was introduced in 1957. Based on the 5000 series, but with a different cab style and cross section (*my addition- presumably to allow passage between cars). This style was also used on the following 5500 series. Excepting one trainset, the original 2 car arrangement was augmented with a middle 5150 series car. Later on window sashes were added, but the model has the original window type. After retirement, running gear was reused on newer trainsets, while the body was combined with running gear from JNR 101 series emu, fitted with air conditioning, and ran on the Toyohashi Railway. These have since been retired. 1 Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Excepting one trainset, the original 2 car arrangement was augmented with a middle 5150 series car. I couldn't find the picture of a 3 cars set It looks like the set was four cars, with the middle two being 5150 types. You can tell by their more rounded body shells curving inward more (monocoque body), compared to the slab sided 5200: http://www.agui.net/imglog/met/img-box/img20030312234833.jpg 1 Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
...when was the red livery introduced I don't know about this specific type, but the scarlet livery first appeared on Meitetsu in 1961, with the introduction of the 7000 series Panorama Cars. Link to comment
