miyakoji
I mentioned two former right-of-ways in a previous post, http://www.jnsforum.com/index.php/topic,5261.0.html. This time I was looking at the Chuo West Line when I noticed this between Chikusa and Ozone: http://g.co/maps/cugsf . I hope that the former right of way in the lower half of your screen becomes apparent. If it doesn't, have a look at the blog posts below, in order of usefulness (in my opinion). http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/tcuemurap62/11267622.html http://yasubo.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2010-09-13 It took a little searching, and referencing the gigantic Nagoya Dome, on your screen's right, did not help. It turns out that on the grounds of the Aeon shopping center, shown in upper part of your screen (zoom out a little, its roof is a parking lot which makes it a little difficult to see initially), stood Japan Tobacco and Salt Public Corporation's Nagoya Factory. Below is a 1982 aerial photo from Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation (very large image). It's an interesting image that shows the huge Mitsubishi Electric facility (still there today) immediately east of the Chuo Line, the JT factory where the Aeon now stands, and fairly large complex on the lot where the Nagoya Dome is now. I can see how a tobacco and salt processing facility might need rail access, but I'm a little surprised that the larger factories on either side didn't have their own lines! Link to comment
