DanMacK
Hey all, browsing around on Google Japan, I came upon a Shinkansen in 1/450 scale from the JR Newdays kiosks. A search has since turned up other bits of equipment (Ef55, Cassiopea tail car, and a C53 and what looks like a pair of 20 series blue cars) among others. I know the little Shinkansen were 1/450 scale, but I'm wondering about the others. Modeling in T Gauge, anything I can find in 1/450 is helpful :) Also, if anyone's willing to part with these little gems, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands ;) Regards, Dan MacKellar Link to comment
cteno4
dan, i think these may be the little futura solid plastic capsule toys. ive a few of these. not sure if they are right at 1.450 or not. jeff Link to comment
DanMacK
Jeff, I think I know which ones you mean, and they're not the ones I'm thinking of. The Newdays ones come/came in a bag with a train car/loco, a piece of plastic with what looks like a sticker for track, and, of course, a Newdays kiosk of some sort. Below is the C53 for example. I'm not even sure if these are metal or plastic... Link to comment

DanMacK
A bit. This series looks like it was from a few years back. This link has a bit more info on the Shinkansen series - Looks like they had the E1-4. I also know there was a 0 Series as well. Link to comment

cteno4
interesting, they are smaller than the futura choco egg trains it appears. looks like they were like the trams coming with bottles of tea. http://mitsu-z.blog.so-net.ne.jp/archive/c223224-2 http://mitsu-z.blog.so-net.ne.jp/archive/c223224-1 http://blog.livedoor.jp/miku861/archives/54855163.html http://miyayume.cocolog-nifty.com/trainbox/images/2008/10/15/081014tsunagaruteppaku01_2.jpg http://pics.livedoor.com/u/miku861/3202204 heres a great review of a whole bunch of shinkansen toys! http://homepage3.nifty.com/sakapoyosu/tec0goods/index.htm and this is has to be done by someone on a platform. fujisawa station has a newdays kiosk in the shape of a joban line 653 http://file.jnr.blog.shinobi.jp/4745.jpg and this one http://file.jnr.blog.shinobi.jp/2513.jpg thinking that papercraft might work well for this with its more blocky appearance and scaling to size. cheers jeff Link to comment
DanMacK
Nice finds! Yeah... they are considerably smaller. I was thinking the Shinkansen might look good perched on a viaduct cutting across a T-Gauge scene. The Cassiopia, if to the same general scale, would be a good stationary train as well. Next challenge is to find some :P BTW, that link of the Shinkansen toys was where I first discovered these things Link to comment
cteno4
yeah they do have good detail for t scale. would make a nice diorama. i regularly look for odd shinkansen toys like this on ebay and have yet to see these. guessing they are on yahoo.jp auctions. since these were not capsule toys i dont expect they will show up from the hong kong or singapore sources that seem to close out things like these. report if you track them down! cheers jeff Link to comment
