marknewton
If anybody has any idea how to open up the Kato HO scale DE10, I'd love to hear from you. One of mine has started making some awful noises! Cheers, Mark. Link to comment
marknewton
Okay, I carefully pulled, poked and prodded, and learned how to open this model up. I found the source of the noise, and also found that it has an 8-pin DCC receptacle built into the circuit board. Whoohoo! Cheers, Mark. Link to comment
The_Ghan
... well ... so ... are you going to tell us the source of all that noise ??? Cheers The_Ghan 1 Link to comment
KenS
Although I'm not modeling HO, I'd be curious about the construction. Do you have photos of the take-apart or the mechanism? Link to comment
marknewton
Nigel, there was a bit of scenery from the club layout that had somehow found its way into the loco and was wrapped around one of the universal joints. Buggered if I know how that happened. Ken, I didn't take any photos this time, but when I pull the thing part again to install a decoder I'll make sure I get some and post them. Cheers, Mark. marknewton
A few photos showing how the Kato DE10 comes apart... Gently pullling upward where the tabs are releases the body. Then the walkway comes off by further gentle upward pulling. Pulling the fuel tank downwards on the tabs releases it, and the frame detail mouldings. The mechanism. The 8-pin DCC receptacle.
