New 3 Day Kanto Area Pass from JR East

I have just noticed that JR East has released  a new 3day Kanto Area Pass for 8000 Yen for 2012.  See the map on their website. It includes Shinkansens on all its lines from Tokyo to as far as Saku-Daira, Jomo-Kogen, Nasushiobara,  as well as the various named trains, eg NEX, Odoriko etc etc. 

 

For anyone transiting thru Japan and in Toyyo for a few days, this seems to be a bargain price to ride the many named trains in that region.

There is a  JR East Office at Shinagawa station to get tickets/reservations each day. Any hotel at Shinagawa station is a handy base for day trips and gives easy access to Haneda or Narita Airports.

 

I will probably get one of these passes when I am in Tokyo mid 2012 if they are still available then.
