bikkuri bahn
Nov. 13, bound for Kofu in Yamanashi Pref. via the Chuo Line, carrying the Crown Prince. Unusual(?) for this train in using the high-level Chuo Line platforms. 1 Link to comment
The_Ghan
I should have told him I don't live there anymore ... perhaps he's going to pick up a few bottles of Grace Koshu? One of my favourite white wines ... When I was living in Kofu the then Crown Prince (now Emperor) Akihito visited. They relocated the statue of Takeda Shingen from in front of the station to the little park west of the taxis so that he wouldn't be looking down on the Crown Prince. Can you imagine how many statues in would have to be moved in London for the Royal Family if this protocol were observed in the UK? Cheers The_Ghan 1 Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Really love the colors on the train, very elegant. Link to comment
cteno4
Really does have a royal look about it, perfect train for an imperial train. and the color is so rich. please micro ace model this! would need that high buff shine! wonder if they could get that metallic flake high high luster sparkle. jeff Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Pearlescent paints for scale models exist (they use them quite a bit on RC cars), and polishable paints for a real shiny car finish (obviously also used a lot on RC cars :)) also exist. Whether a combination of the 2 works, I'm not sure ;) I guess a high gloss clear coat would do the trick as well, although that might mess up the pearlescent effect to some degree. Link to comment
cteno4
big question is would they go that far on the paint job. futura would probably give you the nice gloss. i finished my 64 vw bug with a nice deep blue pearlescent paint that we added some metal flake to as well then two clear coats. was going for a ctenophore (jellyfish) iridescence and boy did it. was quite spectacular in the sun! cheers, jeff Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
I think MicroAce at least would go all out if they were to model the train, but it'd likely be more expensive than a regular train. Pretty sure it'd sell like crazy though, even at twice the price. Link to comment
Guest ___
I wish someone would finally release it. This is the only train I have yet to acquire. (It would be by far the longest one as well) Link to comment
Guest ___
BTW: I can't help but think JR looked to the Pennsy for the paint livery on it. This train really screams, GG1 or E8 with the hue and the three gold spaghetti stripes. Link to comment
cteno4
yeah but pennsy never did pearlescent paint like that! the hue also has a nice purple in it which you rarely see. someone chose that color and paint very carefully to make s very subtle, but royal impact. its very understated, but strong and not opulent. gets respect w/o yelling for it. hats off to the colorist, rarely see that care taken these days with colors. jeff Link to comment
