*Gmat, this line I think is in your regular territory, you may want to get some shots before the year end.

Vignettes of this type, at various points on the line.  Nice acceleration and deceleration sound, unadulterated by inverters:

These have been purchased by several private railways around Japan, so although you won't be able to ride them on the Inokashira Line, you can still see them on: Hokuriku Tetsudou, Jomo Dentetsu, Gakunan Tetsudou, Arupico Kotsu (formerly Matsumoto Dentetsu), and Iyo Tetsudou.  Pretty popular rolling stock!

The Tokyu Railcar carbodies are shotwelded stainless steel with corrugated construction- almost indestructible- all you need to do is hang on new electricals and you have a train that can run another 20 years with no worries about corrosion or cracks.  No wonder Tokyu products find willing buyers on the secondhand market.

Tokyu got the stainless steel technology as a licensee of the Budd Company. So one can affirm that these trains started their (conceptual) lives in the US.
