bill937ca
Something interesting has just come on the Japanese market. Its Plarail trains in N scale with realistic design as much as possible. Its like a cross between Plarail and B Train Shorty. Ages over 15. Market for Plarail is 4-7. Tomix buildings appear in the background on the Pla Advance web page so this may be an attempt to build a bridge between Plarail and Tomix. The market is supposed to be parents and grandparents for children. I bet there are also a good chunk of collectors. The Japanese seem to collect almost anything related to trains. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/1515/0/1 http://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/tomix_plaad/index.htm Link to comment
cteno4
nice videos, lucky kid, but i think dad is having as much fun as the kid! theres another thread going on these here http://www.jnsforum.com/index.php/topic,5630.0.html they look like fun toys to really leverage all the stuff that plarail already has with just a few track additions! wonder if they work well with the switches, would think it should. now all they need to do is make them rc! jeff Link to comment
Tecchan
The thing they really nailed with this system is that it uses the same tracks as the regular PlaRail. So, as a parent, you don't need to buy a whole system one more time, you just get new trains and some of the special parts (crossings, stations, etc.). When I have kids, it will be hard for me not to get some of those... (a way to keep the kid away from my trains too: "you have yours, daddy has his" ) Link to comment
westfalen
I'm planning on picking some of the trains and crossover tracks up while I'm in Japan. My nephew has a heap of track that he and my brother set up round their house. Link to comment

This system was released almost one month ago. I was in Yodobashi the day after they were released, and there were hundreds of sets available. Last time I was in Yodobashi, about two weeks ago, all the train sets save a couple of 500-series, were sold out! Link to comment

CaptOblivious
Its been a very busy month Captain! http://www.jnsforum.com/index.php/topic,5630.0.html :D Was at Kyoto Yodobashi tonight. All that is left is two (count 'em!) station platform kits. From what was an initial inventory of perhaps thousands of items! Anyway, I've got a McDonald's promotional DVD that came out last month with some cool vids of the Pla-Rail Advance stuff I've been meaning to rip and post here… Link to comment
westfalen
I saw some earlier on my trip, at the hobby shop upstairs at Hakata station, but I thought I'll leave it till later to save carrying them around. I'm sure they do another run with them selling so well. Link to comment
