Tomix Shinkansen 200-2000 H set

Does anyone know if Tomix made a 248 car for the 16-car Shinkansen 200-2000 series H sets?  I can't find one anywhere.  I bought a 16 car set second-hand and it has 2 x 249 car.

Also, I don't have a product brochure for the 92625 6-car set.  If anyone can scan and email that would be great.

Cheers

doesn't look like it the 249 should be accompanied with a 248 not 2 x 249's but the only product shows is 2 x 249's as per product description.

really couldn't say but was there a difference between the cars??? like smoking non smoking?

Both are double-decker green cars.  The 248 has a half floor downstairs, lower seating capacity and fewer windows.  It doesn't look like Tomix made the car at all.

Still hoping that someone can scan a copy of the 92625 brochure for me.

Cheers

Hi Ghan,

I'm sorry but Tomix 200-2000 is the last "wrong" Shinkansen, it's impossible to reproduce the real car formation and not only for the 248 bilever car, you need also 225-100, 225-200 and 225-400 type

Until now all the Tomix 200 are incomplete because the 225-400 car has never been reproduced and it's required for E, F and G set (but the last depend, because some cars has been modified).

p.s. some H set don't have the 200-2000 head car, some are 200-200 head cars.

I wait the next catalog, I hope to find the 200 renewed like the last production (improved engine, new coupler and all the correct cars reproduced)

Thanks Massimo,

To be clear, the Tomix model as manufactured by them is prototypically incorrect.

I have the following parts:

1 x 92625

1 x 2824

3 x 2825

4 x 2826

2 x 2830

Do I own the correct parts as far as Tomix is concerned?

I haven't looked in detail, but I assumed that the 225-100, 225-200 and 225-400 were included in 92625.  I also have a book in Japanese that refers to another car, 215 - single deck green car.  There is also a car 237.

I agree with your final remark.  If someone does the 16-car 200-2000 again and it is prototypically correct then I'm going to sell my current one and upgrade.

Cheers

Hi Ghan,

unfortunatelly the 92625 set include 2 x 226 (like one motorized 2824 and one 2825 cars) one 215 and one 237 (and both head cars, of course!)

225-100/200/400 has never been reproduced but you can modify some 225, 237 and 215 cars like in the real life)

with currently Tomix cars, the only "correct" car formation (with one 225 instead a required 225-400) is the H set prototype that run like 13 cars formation, the original test run H set was formed with upgraded E and F set that include 215 and 237 cars, with one 249 double decker car (and for a limited time with the original rounded nose head cars!)

After the inclusion of the second DD car 248, the original 215 and 237 cars has been modified like you can see (drawing website)

I'm still trying to reconstruct the history of cars formation, but is really hard..

p.s. wait a little bit, I scan the old Tomix catalog for you

Massimo

p.s. all the Microace 200 are prototypically correct, and (that's incredible!) also the old ENDO and Kato (E type car formation). I don't think I sell my Tomix  :grin  maybe I try the same kitbashing like you see on website or I use it like 12 cars EOL formation and sell both 249 on Yahoo (around 7-8000 JPY and more each!)

Thanks Massimo,

I look forward to receiving the scanned brochure.  I have the 2009-2010 catalog that shows this model.  It is the brochure that comes with the 92625 set that I'm missing and want scanned.

I had a good look at those links that you gave me and I must admit some of the differences to the cars are damn near impossible to spot.  The differences between 248 and 249 are pretty easy though.

Kit-bashing is an option that I don't have time for, unfortunately.

Cheers
