The_Ghan
One think I really like is the links he puts at the bottom of each post. I've learned a lot from those, especially the Odakyu one. I also love the N'EX toilet, although I'm not sure how I would use the long brown thing that looks like a built-in hairdryer ... is it a bum dryer??? My toilet at Kempinski Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia had a bum dryer built into the seat !!! I also like the driver changeover on the shinkansen video, although I wish the video had been shot from the other angle as I'm sure that female driver's face was prettier than her bottom ... ... but still, the changeover was very professional. Mr Frosty
I think the "long brown thing" is a handle. One of those that folds down for the elderly/infirm. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
I think the "long brown thing" is a handle. One of those that folds down for the elderly/infirm. Yes, that's right. It also serves as a handle in the upright position, and it quite useful for male passengers (of all ages) using the "facilties" when the train is negotiating a curve or pointwork! Link to comment
The_Ghan
Why doesn't it match the one on the side wall? I want to ride this train just to check out the brown thingy. Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Oooh that brown thing is indeed something for the physically partially disabled. Reminds me of the one I had in my student's house near Leiden about 5 years ago. Since it was a house especially built for temporary visitors it had facilities for handicapped persons: wheelchair friendly, large shower and a wheelchair friendly toilet. A fun, but a crappy house. After I moved out a few friends moved in and this Saturday we're having a party on their move to somewhere else, since the houses are going to be demolished in a few weeks. So, we're going to help the destruction of the homes a bit. Our style. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Why doesn't it match the one on the side wall? It has to fold down or up, I believe for ease of getting wheelchair-bound passengers between the chair and the pot. Link to comment
keiman
Could the brown rail be a different colour because it has a non slip covering making it easier to grip. That looks better than the toilet I had in a 5 star hotel on a business trip a couple of years ago Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Could the brown rail be a different colour because it has a non slip covering making it easier to grip. Yes, appears to be. Many fittings on trains nowadays are made to "universal design" principles to make them ergonomic and easy to use for all people. Link to comment
