ToniBabelony
Hey all, While browsing, I discovered this new release from Tomytec: http://ngi.blog.eonet.jp/photos/20111029_shimotsui/ A narrow gauge train from the Shimotsui RR モハ103 and クハ24! This is perhaps a nice way to rebuild your spare Z-gauge rolling stock to Nnj gauge (6.5mm). I have no idea if it will be generally distributed, or is a one-off rare and hard to get item... EDIT: you can get the item from the Shimotsui website for 2,500¥ at some point in the near future. ;) 1 Link to comment
westfalen
I wonder if it will be the first of a series of narrow gauge releases and if Tomytec will do a mechanism for them? Link to comment

I certainly do hope so. If that's so, I'm going to focus on that. However, the wheel gauge with of the Shimotsui model is 5.1mm and not 6.5mm like the Rokuhan Z-gauge tracks. This could be a big problem... Link to comment
bill937ca
Is this a general release or just a special issue for a private railway? We have just passed Railway Day when many special issues are offered. And Shimotsui is still active as a bus operator. Its on their web site. Don`t imagine this will ever show up at HS or other dealers. http://www.shimoden.co.jp/index.html Don`t know if they have English capabilities or if they ship outside Japan. It may only be sold in their stores or ticket offices. Link to comment

All orders by phone are delivered by Yamato Payment on Delivery (Takkyubin Collect), so it's Japan-only. Limit of ten items per customer- this may tempt some to put them up on Yahoo Auctions. I might be able to track some down if there are any left by the time I get to Okayama. Link to comment
clem24
Forgive me I am ignorant... So is Shimoden narrower than standard narrow gauge? I just find the thread title and Westfalen's response kind of funny LOL... Link to comment
marknewton
Yes, Shimotsui was 762mm gauge, or 2'6" if you prefer. I'd love to see Tomix do something like this in HO. The various 762mm gauge lines fascinate me. Cheers, Mark. Link to comment
