Ex-JR DD16(?) in industrial service looking very spiffy as it rolls a few tankers into town. One doesn't see one of these all that frequently these days!

For those like me wondering where this is, a little online detective work found that it's Ōmi station on the Hokuriku line http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%9D%92%E6%B5%B7%E9%A7%85_%28%E6%96%B0%E6%BD%9F%E7%9C%8C%29 but from what I gather from the google translation of the Japanese wikipedia page freight operation ceased in 2008.

 

Pity, these are the types of thing I like to seek out in Japan now that I'm over the novelty of bullet trains.
