Nick_Burman
Great video showing diesel railcar operation on the JNR in the 1950's (with a few extra goodies thrown in!). Interestingly enough the film was dubbed in English (presumably for the "export" market) and dubbed over in Japanese - if you pay attention you can hear the original dubbing in the background. Cheers NB 3 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Nice. Date is 1958. The Boso Lines in Chiba Prefecture are featured, apparently JNR used this region as a demonstration area for conversion from steam hauled trains to dmu services (dubbed muenka, or smokeless operation), running on 30 minute headways. The rolling stock factory at the end is likely the Hitachi Mito plant in Hitachinaka City- you can see an Indian Railways (Eastern Railway division) WCM-3 DC electric locomotive as well as a diesel locomotive for Thai Railways. 1 Link to comment
