Nick_Burman
Fascinating 1950's film of freight activity on the JNR. Some fascinating stuff...cattle cars, loaded with cattle (and in one case, pigs); train formations; freight being routed to long lost destinations (Akihabara! Haaaaaaiiiiii! Akabane! Haaaaaiiiiii!); footage of train crew at work inside caboose; hump yard - why retarders if we have a surplus of brakemen? 9600s on hump duties; a ride on a gondola down the bowl; clerical work (hell, how does a Japanese typewriter work???). Summing it up, a fascinating look at freight as it was. Cheers NB Link to comment
miyakoji
Earlier than 1950s, actually. The video is titled 昭和16年 貨物列車. The 16th year of Showa was 1941. Great videos, thanks. I just search for the zenmen tenbou videos, and I think I've seen them all now! Link to comment
