The JNR can show (it can carry) the goods!

Fascinating 1950's film of freight activity on the JNR. Some fascinating stuff...cattle cars, loaded with cattle (and in one case, pigs); train formations; freight being routed to long lost destinations (Akihabara! Haaaaaaiiiiii! Akabane! Haaaaaiiiiii!); footage of train crew at work inside caboose; hump yard - why retarders if we have a surplus of brakemen? 9600s on hump duties; a ride on a gondola down the bowl; clerical work (hell, how does a Japanese typewriter work???). Summing it up, a fascinating look at freight as it was.

Earlier than 1950s, actually.  The video is titled 昭和16年 貨物列車.  The 16th year of Showa was 1941.  Great videos, thanks.  I just search for the zenmen tenbou videos, and I think I've seen them all now!
