keitaro
Hi All, I'm not sure if all Micro Ace recent locos are the same e.g. dd51, de 10 etc. But was wondering if you knew how to upgrade to a knuckle type coupler. I have the dd51 sakura 1805 model and I dropped it a while ago and it broke to 40 pieces. I managed to get it all back together and it runs perfect still no scratches even but the pins in the rapido coupler fell out and i could not locate them. Now they flop down and do not flick back into place. I don't want to keep rapido couplers anyway but was wondering if it uses the same coupler system for other variant models and if you know a good way to upgrade the coupler to a knucke based one?. It works by screwing off the cow catcher at the front and back just under this is a pin spring (missing now) and the coupler sits in, i tried adding a basic kato knuckle coupler in but it can't move left / right well or at all. Any ideas? Link to comment
Jcarlton
Here's a link to micro trains coupler site: http://www.micro-trains.com/pl-NCouplers.php They invented the knuckle coupler for n scale, so you should be able to find the correct shank. They don't have any Micro-ace or Kato Japan conversions listed, but in my experience coupler boxes are more or less standard. Link to comment
