yakumo381
Noticed that most railway tunnels in Japan have a nameplate at the side or top - see attached example from Atami. I assume they are the name of the tunnel but what form do they use and is the last character "tunnel"? So does this one say "Atami Tunnel"? It is a detail missing from my layout I want to fix by adding them - I could make it anything in best babelfish japanese but as I would know it's probably gibberish then I would rather get it right. disturbman
Good question, but from my initial search on wikipedia (until someone most learned than us can intervene) it seems that Japanese are using Katakanas to write tunnel ("toneru"). I also have seen things written on the entrance of bridges. Link to comment
