cteno4
I have played with ornament rotators to rotate scenery objects slowly. these can work well for signs, etc. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Operated-Ornamotor-Rotating-Ornament/dp/B000RTZLL2 curt just got a desk toy of a rotating globe and i went a looking and found little solar powered rotating turntables for small objects. they could easily be re-powered with a single aa battery to run them all the time. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-Solar-Rotating-Display-Stand-Turn-Table-Plate-/280637530190?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41574ce04e cheers jeff Link to comment
rankodd
Thanks for posting that - I was going to ask you what you were referring to in the amusement rides thread... Link to comment
Bernard
Jeff - the solar powered turn table looks like it would work for my carousel ride...and it's easy to change it from solar power? Link to comment
cteno4
may be a tad slow for a carousel, hard to say. looks to be like maybe 5rpm, but give it a tad more voltage and maybe it could go faster? i think these are probably 1.5v, could try with a single battery then a second to go up to 3v to see what you might get for speed. the ornament motors do 1 AA cell so its 1.5v. from what i remember the insides look like its probably the same guts almost as the turntables. you can see some more of these kinds of turntables on deal extreme http://www.dealextreme.com/p/solar-powered-turn-table-rotary-display-6184 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/solar-powered-turn-table-rotary-display-4-panels-6110 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/solar-powered-display-rotary-turntable-turnplate-39043 im always on the lookout at the dollar store as i figure at some point some little toy/widgit will have a little solar or battery powered slow spin like this for doing some fun animation. the other thing you can do with these small turning motors is put mall cams on them and you can do in/out rod push/pulls to make things slide back and forth, up and down, etc. put the cam off center and you can get a more complex motion. or make a non circular rotor that pushed up and down in a unique pattern. cheers jeff Link to comment
