gmat
Leaving this morning at 5:38 to see if I can go to Kobuchizawa on the Chuo Line and then to Ueda on the Koumi Line and Shinano Line then to Bessho Onsen and back on the Ueda Electric Railway. Then it's to Matsumoto on the Shinano Line and Shinonoi Line. Then back to Shinjuku on the Azusa or Super Azusa. Hope it works out. Best wishes, Grant Link to comment

miyakoji
gmat, are you using regular tickets for that, seishun 18, or something else? JR East has the Holiday Pass, which would help you for some of that trip. From 1992 until 2001 they had the Super Holiday Pass, which covered everything within about a 150km radius from Tokyo Station, although not shinkansens. Wikipedia says they now have the Shuumatsu Higaeri Pass (Weekend Return-the-same-day Pass), which is available for 2- or 3-person groups and includes some parts of the JRE shinkansens.
