bikkuri bahn
I find short freight consists really strange Strange outside of Japan and Europe, I would say. Long freights are very slow to accelerate, take a long distance to brake, and likely have a higher risk for derailment, so not good on networks where passenger trains take precedence. Of course, in Japan and to a lesser extent Europe, freight traffic on the rails is a minority mode in the transport mix. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Osawa Signal Point just outside of Shin Yubari, on the Sekisho Line. I think the freights are shorter on this line than say, the Hakodate/Muroran Line, which is a major route for freights to/from Kanto and Kansai/Western Japan Link to comment
