cteno4
Thought i would start a thread for folks to throw out some interesting building detail parts they may know of or have ideas/techniques for scratch building them. ill start with roof details. most multistory buildings have all sorts of vents, air conditioners, pipes, ducts, and other machinery on their roofs. you rarely see this stuff as its usually hidden from the ground or even some elevation due to most buildings having a parapet (small wall) around the edge of the roof hiding this ugly stuff. but on a layout you usually see the ugly roof views, sometimes this is the only thing you see of your buildings from some viewing angles! the walthers roof details kit is a nice set of 35 parts that was made for their modular building series. these are generic ac units and vents that are pretty similar world wide luckily! you can also make many of these out of some small bits of styrene tubing, sequins, beads, etc. it seems to be oos/oop right now, but one ebay vendor still has a bunch of these at a reasonable price. http://cgi.ebay.com/Walthers-Cornerstone-N-3286-Roof-Details-kit-/380316387599?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item588c9f890f#ht_555wt_765 cheers jeff Link to comment
