keitaro
so Ikea are selling those small coffee tables for 9.99 on special. Thought i'd mention as could be a great mini module idea for those in aus and US. US http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40104270 AUS http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/20193658 Width 55cm length 75cm They perfectly fit a double track 140mm s > 2 x 317mm 45 curve> 140mm s edge to edge perfectly and the inner 140mm s > 280mm 45 curve > 140mm s thought i'd leave some inspiration to some one. However may be good idea to cut some mdf and screw in on top to avoid possible sagging. $40 for 4 tables and a nice small loop line aint too bad. If the wife would let me i'd be at ikea now buying as i have a design in anyrail for this. Link to comment
ToniBabelony
That's a pretty cool idea! It looks a lot like a module system I developed a few years ago, but I abandoned that project. These tables look like an oversized version of those modules. You could even make use of the height to create deep ravines and steep cliffs. The dimensions however are 55x55x45mm and in the Euro Zone they cost about €4,99 Pretty cheap, but also pretty flimsy things these tables. At least, from my experience... I destroyed one once upon a time. Link to comment
keitaro
yeah hence the mdf sheet over the top to provide more support for the top the legs are pretty sturdy though. Easily hold the weight of a train layout Link to comment
