Tecchan
No need to present 500 Series Shinkansen. No need to present Tomix. Just a question before I jump on the basic set + add-on A: does it have the all wheel pickup we love so much?! Reservations on HS: Basic set: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050584 Add-on A: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050585 Add-on B: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050586 Add-on ??: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050587 Add-on ?? with a motor apparently: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050588 I don't get those two last add-ons and why there is not an add-on C to complete it to a 16 cars Nozomi set (only 11 cars + the two single cars). Martijn Meerts
Looks to me like it's a re-release of the old version, without the new coupler system. Of course, HS might just be using the old pictures until they get new ones... The 2 single cars could also be a hint that it's just a re-release of the old version, since they used to do that a lot. It could also be to make it easier for people to get an 8 car train rather than the full 16 car train.. (3 car base set + 4 car add-on set + single car) Link to comment
jappomania
Add-on ??: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050587 Add-on ?? with a motor apparently: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10050588 I don't get those two last add-ons and why there is not an add-on C to complete it to a 16 cars Nozomi set (only 11 cars + the two single cars). Hi Kumo! don't worry, it's right you need 4 526/528 single cars and 1 527-700 motor car to complete the right 16 cars formations. after you can personalize every single car with the right car number with dry transfer that you find inside the box the old Kato release require the same method (1 x 10-382 7 cars, 1 x 10-383 5 cars and 2 x 10-384 2 cars set) and also the first Tomix release (if someone remember the cars without glasses on the doors near the coupler :-) ciao Massimo Link to comment
clem24
I would assume that it would have power conducting couplers because the Sayonara Nozomi 500 set had them. I see no reason why they would exclude it. Yup when the 500 was first released, you needed to buy those 5 individual cars, one being a power car. Took me forever to collect everything! Plus as Massimo pointed out, then you had to buy the glass too (another Y2,500). Of course after all that effort, then they come out with flywheel drive and power conducting couplers in the Sayonara set... :angry7: Link to comment
keitaro
It's a re-release nor power hook couples on tomix site mentioned. Link to comment
Tecchan
Too bad! And if there is no flywheel either, I guess I'll just wait for another release. 16 cars is too long for me so I'm not interested by the sayonara set (assuming this would be available and at a reasonable price...). I'll just wait a little longer and play with my N700 special edition in September while waiting for a new 500! :-) Thanks all for the answer. Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Just wait until they phase out the current 8-car 500's, and you can get the 8-car sayonara set ;) Link to comment
jappomania
Just wait until they phase out the current 8-car 500's, and you can get the 8-car sayonara set ;) I hope, but they need some new/modified mold (rooftop, pantos, closed windows) in the meantime I try to kitbash one Kato (or maybe one Tomix :) and it's possible to transplanting the third panto on W1 prototype on car 9 p.s. if someone need, at regular price (because is NIB) the "sayonara" set is still available at Rainbowten ciao Massimo Link to comment

My current layout can't handle it, I'm not sure a 8 cars won't be too long... Oh Tomix Y U no make a new 500 series!!! A 500 Kodama would be great with all the current technologies they put on newer Shinkansen! Link to comment

In any case, those 2 pages are severely outdated (about 5 years old). Mind you, when they make a change, the product number usually changes. In this case, the product number is the same, so there's a chance the coupling system hasn't been updated (but would definitely have the flywheels as opposed to the original release). And sorry to be completely nitpicky, but in the future, just post the source page instead of the translation. Hahaha I am such an ass. Thanks... I was really hoping to see it in the upcoming products section along with estimate release date. Link to comment
