Whatever happened to these Greenmax prototypes?

A google search for some Kato information revealed the below link to another N Scale forum.  I as pleased to see fellow JNSForum member To2Leo's post there covering some upcoming announcements from Greenmax and Kato.

 

What really surprised me were the really interesting modular concepts in the photo that To2Leo posted (I think the image showing the poster is Greenmax, but there is not identification I can make out).  Clearly, these were never produced, did they decide to scale down their release and go with the much simpler modular kits they released a couple of years ago?  Too bad, pretty cool stuff there.

yes it does look like they ended up simplifying, but i like their original idea better! the final release was pretty limited in how you could easily modify it and even then it was pretty expensive to scale up to much or make two buildings look much different. this looked to be the concept of doing lower commercial floors as well as upper residential as well. bummer.
