cteno4
ok some of you have wanted the small airport on your layouts, heres a small tower from sankei for you! http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10147375 it is 1/144 to fit in with all the 1/144 airplane models, but close enough! cheers jeff Link to comment
Guest Closed Account 1
Haha. Looks like an early (SATS) tug. Does that come with the kit or who made that I wonder. Link to comment
The_Ghan
If your layout is large enough for an airport you obviously don't have enough track!!!! But that just MY opinion!!! Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment

Bernard
Jeff - I am soooo happy my layout is in the final stages so I can't add an airport to it, otherwise this structure would be very tempting. Link to comment
cteno4
Michael, hey just slap a table alongside the layout for your runway! does not have to be that wide. then i expect to see you make a catapult system to launch the planes over the layout and get caught in a net behind it. of course engineering the reverse, landing mode will be a bit tougher! just realized even a small private plane strip would be like 8' long in scale! cheers jeff Link to comment
westfalen
I had an airport on a four foot N-TRAK module, I just didn't model the runway, just the control tower, a small hangar and a few other buildings. Link to comment
clem24
You know, there are lots of indoor mini R/C helis and planes that would be perfect to land on a scale airport. Might be a little hard to do since precision is a little tough with those guys but would be fun hehehe. I usually try to land my mini heli onto this heliport on my son's Thomas set. Unfortunately usually takes many tries to do it because the the heli gets upset by it's own wake. Link to comment
rpierce000
Live air traffic.... I just don't think large enough! I thought the live buses were cool. That control tower picture had a fighter in the background, I guess we could do Misawa. Yokota would be TOO big, C5As and C130s are HUGE! My Mom used to teach at Yokota and I saw the C5s up close. If you have ever been in one you know what I mean... When presidents come to Japan they park AF1 at Yokota. Just before Reagan came to Japan they ran fire drills on a C5 to be ready in case of an emergency. They can bury an entire plane in foam in less than two minutes. That would be REALLY cool to model. Just build a waterproof tray and use some dishsoap, tear apart some squirt guns and a couple of old aquarium power heads..... Now I want to try this! (If only I had enough layout...) Link to comment
