Mudkip Orange
In the last few months, a several very good Wiki articles have shown up detailing the power systems behind the Northeastern US rail network. Amtrak (ex-PRR), New York - Washington - Harrisburg: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amtrak%27s_25_Hz_Traction_Power_System SEPTA (ex-Reading), Philadelphia area: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEPTA%27s_25_Hz_Traction_Power_System Amtrak (ex-New Haven), New York - New Haven: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrification_of_the_New_York,_New_Haven,_and_Hartford_Railroad Amtrak (Boston extension), New Haven - Boston: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amtrak%27s_60_Hz_Traction_Power_System The New Haven article in particular is only a couple weeks old. The Amtrak 60 Hz article is so technical as to be difficult reading... maybe someone will rewrite it. Link to comment
rpierce000
It makes me JUST a bit nervous to publish a list of "blow these up and shut down all the trains" targets. I didn't realize that 25Kv systems were +/- 25, I thought they were 25 total. Very interesting articles, thank you! Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
Ehh, the jihadis want to kill people. They have no interest in just cutting the lights out. That's why they call it terror-ism, not inconvenience-ism. 3 Link to comment
