Just got my tomytec construction machine collection vol #2. all and all pretty happy with them. Basically large shovel, small clamshell digger, a large mobile crane and a medium sized one. these are getting a tad more priceier as they are only 8 machines per collection so closer to $9 per vehicle, still compared to other construction equipment out there a very good value!

Mobile Heavy Lift Crane

the large crane is of the very heavy lift, single boom variety. is an all in one 4 axle truck. the collection comes with two variations, one in transport mode with the boom all folded up and the other with the boom fully extended (only difference is the driving cab on the extended one is painted green and the transport one is yellow like the rest of the crane). nice job, but one issue is that the two hooks that are dangling off the end of the extended boom a few mm are at such an angle you would need to have the crane boom close to vertical. these can probably be bent/modified to hang at a different angle, but just sort of a pain. too bad they just didnt do a loop of the chain thru the end of the boom around a pin so that they could dangle vertical at any angle. horizontal stabilizer struts are locked in place in the out position in the boom extended version.

 

Medium Crane

the medium boom crane is the basic 2 axle model you see at many construction sites. this model is a narrow one that can fit in tighter spaces or down smaller streets. these cranes only come in the fully extended state. the only difference between the two models is the color, all yellow or a blue and red. similar problem with the hook angle on the boom end.

 

Heavy Shovel

this is a very nice articulated heavy shovel. all the main hydraulic pistons function except for the very end one on the bucket. its nice as it has 3 articulation joints in the arm instead of the usual 2. also a pretty long/deep reach. this may be nice for the dredge barge i want to do. also has some additional cage, rails, etc parts you can add on to detail it more.

 

Clamshell Digger

this is a really odd little beast. its a tricycle design with 3 tires. its smaller and i expect to get into tiny places where you have to probably move dirt more vertically in/out of trucks. the end is a clamshell vertical load bucket. the arm has two joints with functional hydraulic pistons and a third ball joint out at the end. the clamshell bucket also opens up. also comes with a set of stabilizing struts to pop on. comes in a light blue and orange colors.
