I don't think you'll get HSR or anything else either. He can now break that and every other election promise he ever made and still be a shoe in at the next election because he's the guy who got Osama. They might as well give him the extra four years now and cancel the next election to save some money.

Possibly not as Bush 41 helped to win the first Gulf War but the poor economy help him to lose the next election. But I don't think that there is anyone who could have made the economy better in the US.

i'm not an american and i really don't know too much about american politics but from i read from time to time it seemed as though bush had no interest in the economy as he did in iraq

How much do politicians really control the economy? When it goes bad they blame their predecessors, the banks, businesses or foreign countries, it's only when the economy is booming that they take the credit.

it's not that bush could have said a speech and made everything boom but more so the govt knew it was coming and that banks needed reforms etc etc it would have shielded theus more from it.
