bill937ca
I love the feel of it. Is this your layout bill? It was the feel of it that I noticed too. A simple figure-eight with lots of browns and greens. It's not my layout. I wish it was. I'm working on adding browns and greens to my layout so this caught my eye. But lately it seems not much is getting done. Here's another from the same poster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xZ7oXFmuR4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGaOnQZPGsk Link to comment
SubwayHypes
wow cool layout. im not a big fan of trams and small lines (i love the 4-5 track commuter train highways). but i love this layout, especially the smalltown feel of it, and the extensive use of greens. those rice paddies look cool too im gonna have to add something similar to my layout. where do you get them? serenityFan
These scenes are very inspiring ... I only have one small (tiny) problem with the seemingly empty small streets. Or maybe that's what it suppose to look like ... Link to comment
Bernard
CaptO was doing a diorama with a rice paddy on it. Don, how did you make yours? (Also you can search the forum for CaptO's diorama.) I also like this layout. The modeler has put a lot of detail in it. Link to comment

(Also you can search the forum for CaptO's diorama.) I didn't. That's the pity of it, is I never really settled on a good way of doing rice paddies. I'm still thinking really hard about the stuff from Scenic Express. But, being pricey, it will have to wait :( And, yes, those videos really are inspiring...been watching those pretty closely. Guest ___
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU0dsecAzpk&feature=related Cool, Bill. This is the sorta layout I'm working no now myself in N-scale. Regrettably I am not as far along. Link to comment
serenityFan
This video clip shows smooth very slow running, and non-flickering internal lights. Do you think this is achieved using DCC? Link to comment
bill937ca
The description on the You Tube file doesn't really say. This is the translation. Village Station garage in the countryside and rural scenery of the scene where a train passes, N GEJIREIAUTO I tried to express. Layout is, 900mm x 600mm into a compact size, and also enjoy a night view Each building as a built-in LED lighting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU0dsecAzpk It's not tagged DCC so I don't think so. DCC is only beginning to appear in Japan and usually only with clubs, so far. Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
We should collectively move to Japan, open up a store and specialize in DCC ;D (and of course have a large DCC/computer controlled layout on display) Link to comment

What about the trains? Around the corner, up the street, over there. Bernard would have his nose pushed up against the window all the time! :o As soon as Bernard sees a Series 500 Shinkansen, we'd never see him again. :D :D Link to comment
Bernard
He's right ;D And Bill would be checking out all the Tram lines. :D Link to comment
alpineaustralia
Not to mention Yakuza involvement in the store! Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Bernard can be behind the desk, with a 500 series running circles inside it (glass display desk type of thing.) Bill can organise the trams division. I'll take care of the yakuza by marrying the daughter of some yakuza boss (we'll have funding and protection covered that way, although we may need to do some side business from time to time =)) And since we'll have yakuza money to make it into a good store, we'll also get a large exhibition space in the back with a large workshop with stuff like computer driven machining benches and 3d printers and such. That's where we'll build all our modules and layouts ;) Link to comment
Bernard
Martijn - except for one thing, you will be getting a message like this: "Hey Martijn and Alpine, some guy just bought 52 Tomix Dr Yellows sets and wants you guys to install decoders in them before lunch. I told him it was no problem." ::) Link to comment
bill937ca
Bernard--In that case Martijn and Alphine will probably introduce **you** to some good Japanese sake before sending you off on a tour of discovery in a JRF freight container :o--and I might even lend a hand. :P Link to comment

With the yakuza money we'll buy all the necessary materials to etch our own circuit boards (I'm sure the acid can be used for other things as well ;)), so we'll just design a board for all the loco's and we can mass-convert everything =) Link to comment
Guest ___
Not so sure about Yakuza money, but I can sure deal with rte Zaibatsu. Link to comment
alpineaustralia
Ive just come back from holidays to find that Im doing decoder installs on tomix Dr yellows! thats the last time I go and leave you guys alone to run the store. Could be worse though... you might have me fixing Z gauge. Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Just came back from holidays as well, just to once again realize how little space I really have here. So after 2.5 weeks of doing nothing but train stuff, it's likely coming to a halt again for a few months :-\ (except the usual buying new things and experimenting with other things of course) Link to comment
Bernard
Alpine - You got it wrong, I was going to have you install decoders in "T scale" ;D Martijn - How was it working on your father's layout, did you get a lot done and any photos, please? ;) Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Bernard, apart from a guy jumping in front of the train on the way to the airport, which caused me to miss my flight, then had it rebooked to a new flight the next day, to find out they booked that one on the wrong name and date, and eventually barely managed to get me a seat, everything was fine =) Pictures and a more detailed description will come once I've rested a little. Are there any clauses for rebooking a flight in that sorta event? Link to comment
