bikkuri bahn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9hg1ZYNQ4M Last Sunday, while taking a rail journey around Lake Biwa, I noticed a greater than usual number of railfans on the platform end of some stations on the far end of the Kosei Line. I wondered what special train they were waiting for. It appears it was this train chartered by Nihon Travel, which made a run from Osaka to Kanazawa on the 26th, with the return leg on the 27th (Sun.). The original long bonnet is a beautiful sight to behold indeed... RM News photo report on this train. The first picture is at Yamazaki Curve, the last picture is at Omi Nakasho, taken by one of the group of railfans I observed from my train, this location is a good one because it is located on a straightaway on the end of a big sweeping curve on a fill. http://rail.hobidas.com/rmn/archives/2011/03/jr489_4.html 1 Link to comment
stevenh
Could you be any luckier :) Those bonnets are amazing, I'd love to see one running... Any idea where this 489 lives? I wouldn't have thought they still had a full set operational. Link to comment
